ABOUT ME
Writing about myself has never been my favorite thing, but the story behind my photography is important.
My journey started after I was downsized from a job. That moment forced me to stop and think about what I truly wanted to do next. Photography had always been something I loved, so I decided to give it a real shot.
I spent the next couple of months learning everything I could about cameras, lighting, and Photoshop. My first official shoot took place on January 5th, 2011. Some of those images can still be found in the “The Beginning” section of this site.
What started as a creative experiment quickly became a passion.
Today I photograph a variety of subjects including modeling, family portraits, pets, landscapes, and conceptual work. My studio name for my modeling photography is Damien Design, though my real name is Daniel Miller, and that is the name I go by personally.
The name Damien Designs comes from the song “Damien” by Iced Earth, inspired by the Omen films. I’ve always liked the edge and atmosphere the name carries, which reflects the darker artistic themes that appear in my work.
Working With Me
I take my work seriously and strive to be professional, respectful, and easy to work with. Photography works best when everyone feels comfortable, so creating a relaxed and positive atmosphere during a shoot is important to me.
Every person I photograph is treated as an individual. I will never raise my voice or demean someone for missing a pose or trying something new. Shoots should be collaborative and enjoyable, not stressful.
While I tend to be a quiet person at first, once I get to know someone I can become a bit more talkative. Above all, I want the experience to be fun and rewarding for everyone involved.
Models are welcome to bring one escort to a shoot if they would like. In fact, I’ve had several escorts who later became models themselves after seeing how the process works. I’ve also photographed couples together on occasion.
References from other models are available upon request, and several testimonials can be found on this site.
Artistically, I draw a lot of inspiration from Betty Page–era photography and 1950s fetish imagery, which you may notice in parts of my portfolio. I also enjoy shooting conceptual pieces along with classic styles such as pin-up, boudoir, and artistic figure work.
Some of my work may be considered erotic in tone, but I do not shoot pornography. Any nudity I photograph is intended to be artistic in nature.
I’ve had some of my work published and hope to continue expanding into more publications in the future.
The Studio
In October of 2012 I opened my home studio. It’s a small space, but it has produced many great shoots over the years and continues to be where much of my work is created.
